SE4Jobs, a network of Social Enterprises focused on training and hiring individuals with barriers to work. SE4Jobs provides the field with the specialized resources and nation-wide connections social enterprises need to increase their impact and scale their businesses, so they can help even more people with employment barriers get employed, stay employed, and advance. They do this by providing forums for peer-to-peer learnings, knowledge experts to advance the field, tools to track collective impact, and marketing to increase exposure and awareness for social enterprises. Meet four of their SE4Jobs members across the U.S employing resilient individuals and creating incredible products.


Bright Endeavors 

Location: Chicago, IL
Social Enterprise Mission: Bright Endeavors is a non-profit social enterprise that produces artisan soy candles, as well as operates a votive candle rental business for green event centers. Owned by service agency New Moms, they employ young mothers or pregnant youth who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The job at Bright Endeavors equips the women with job skills, as well as helps them gain increased numeracy and literacy skills.
Product: Bright Endeavors is a social enterprise in Chicago that produces a variety of votives, scented soy candles, and gift sets, made by young moms in job training.


 Rebel Nell 
 

Location: Detroit, MI
Social Enterprise Mission: Rebel Nell employs, educates, and supports single mothers in their quest to become self-sufficient.
Product: All of Rebel Nell’s jewelry is made from recycled Detroit graffiti after it falls onto the ground– Detroit art turned into Detroit jewelry made by Detroit people.
 



 Rebuilding Exchange 

Location: Chicago, IL.
Social Enterprise Mission: The Rebuilding Exchange is a non-profit social enterprise with a mission to create a market for reclaimed building materials. They do this by diverting materials from landfills and making them accessible for reuse through our retail warehouse, by promoting sustainable deconstruction practices, by providing education and job training programs, and by creating innovative models for sustainable reuse.
Product: RX Made is a line of simple and functional furniture constructed from reclaimed and locally-sourced materials.


 Lindy & Company


Location: Dayton, Ohio
Social Enterprise Mission: Lindy & Company is a social enterprise that produces gourmet pet treats. They are operated by Daybreak, a social service agency and shelter for homeless youth in Dayton, Ohio. Lindy & Company employs the youth who come through Daybreak, involving them in all aspects of the business, from baking to packaging to shipping.
Product: Gourmet baked pet treats, including gluten-free options. They have dog and cat treats available, in both training size and regular. They also have a broad assortment of flavors.
