We firmly believe that how we spend our money is the loudest voice we have. When you think about it, every dollar we spend is a vote for something. That's why we've searched high and low to change our regular household shopping list to vote for companies that are treating people, pets and the planet with care and doing what they can to make a difference. Not every company on this list is perfect, but each of them have taken noted strides towards making conscious products.



For 30 years KissMyFace has been making naturally effective cleansers, moisturizers and suncare products while maintaining respect for the environment. The company is cruelty free, sources all their cans bottles and tubes from North America and creates natural products that do not contain parabens.

e.l.f. operates under the belief that every woman should have access wide variety of high-quality beauty products that look and feel fantastic without sacrificing her budget. The cosmetic company is cruelty free and 50 percent of the proceeds from the sales of their “fur-Free Tweezers goes to support PETA.


Burt’s Bees 

At Burt’s Bees they support the triple bottom line: people, profit, planet. They make a big deal about the all-natural formulations of their many wonderful products but they don’t stop there - their packaging is designed conscientiously and includes as much post-consumer recycled (PCR) content as possible. They’re also cruelty free.

Citrus Magic provides safe, natural fragrance products for the home and does not test on animals.

At Kicking Horse Coffee, they know life is too short to start drinking the wrong cup of coffee. They are Canada's largest certified Fair Trade roaster and all of their blends are organic. On top of that, Kicking Horse uses recycled materials in many of their materials to limit their waste footprint.

Clif Bar

Clif Bar is a brand synonymous with adventure. That's why it shouldn't come as a surprise that they have built practices around preserving our planet. Their products are packaged and produced to create the smallest footprint possible and they use proceeds to give back to the environment. From 2000-2010 that meant planting 35,000 trees. 


Vita Coco

Vita Coco sells coconut water inside eco-friendly packaging. While Coconut products have gotten some bad press for their impact on agricultural trends, coconut water capitalizes on a product that has been thrown out by farmers for generations. 



EVOL is a quirky company with a full time farm goods curator who searches for cruelty free and whole food ingredients to put into their frozen dishes. Their claim is that frozen meals have gotten a bad rap, but they are focused on changing that in a way that's nice to your body and the planet. 




While many appliance manufacturers have moved jobs overseas, Kitchen Aid still manufactures many of its appliances in the USA and its highly popular mixer is manufactured in Greenville, OH. Additionally, Kitchen Aid’s parent brand, Whirlpool, has been ranked as a top 25 brand for Social Responsibility by research done within the Boston College.
