A Week Of Outfits With
Conscious Style Blogger Lindsey Brown
The Good Trade's Week of Outfits Series highlights women that have personally inspired us to shop and live with intention. Each woman takes her own unique approach to slow fashion and demonstrates how beautifully sustainable fashion can come to life. Today we're excited to share a week of outfits from Lindsey Brown, the sustainable fashion blogger behind Lindsey Gene!
In my 20s, I was definitely the girl who spent her free time shopping and hated wearing anything twice. However, with age comes wisdom right? Call it growing up, having more bills to pay, gaining other interests, or realizing my buying habits have an effect on the environment and people. My fashion views now have definitely changed and so have my shopping habits. Here’s my general approach to shopping:
Buying only what I need or absolutely love.
Realistically, I don't love or need everything I try on, so why spend my hard-earned money on it? This practice has cut down on my wardrobe size and makes it easier to get dressed in the morning.
If I can't wear it more than once, it should be rented.
Gone are my days of only wearing things once, it's just simply a waste! There are times when an event or occasion comes up where I know I won't wear an outfit again. This is where Rent The Runway has become my go to.
Whatever I choose to purchase the goal is for it to last. I try to make sure everything I buy is quality and I am actually reading the directions on how to keep it looking brand new.
My sustainable habits are not perfect but I believe every little step should be celebrated! My lifestyle has me bouncing from my full-time job as a shoe buyer, to an event as a blogger, and on the couch studying for my MBA. Which means my closet has to be ready for all three and sometimes in the same day! I like things to be comfortable and fashionable.
I love matching sets, they can be worn together or separate giving me the ability to mix and match.
A prime example of using Rent The Runway to wear an amazing dress to an event.
I used to never wear sweatpants, but this pair from Lou & Grey is extremely comfortable and flattering. I have owned them for years and will wear them until they fall apart.

I love a black dress and this one offers a little flair with a slit on one side.
Having a black cami is essential. If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen me wear this one dozens of times. I also love these pants from Matter Prints, they’re comfortable but the pink brightens up any outfit.
