Summary: After sleeping on Naturepedic’s beautiful Organic Cotton Sateen and Organic Cotton Waffle Bedding Collection for a week, I truly feel the benefits of high quality organic cotton bedding — it has now become a non-negotiable for my daily sleep routine. Pressure-relieving, breathable, and temperature-regulating, this bedding set has it all.

Pros:

  • Naturepedic’s Organic Cotton Sateen Sheets Set and Organic Waffle Duvet Set are amazing at temperature regulation! My partner and I reached and stayed at our optimal body temperature all night.
  • The sheets are generous in size so it is easy for a single person to make the bed and keep it looking great. The duvet cover also has thoughtful features like corner ties to keep everything in place. 
  • The duvet cover and sham set is a sensory experience! The deluxe waffle weave feels amazing against the skin and the thickness of the fabric offers gentle pressure relief that helps me feel refreshed every morning. 
  • Both the sateen and waffle fabric are beautiful! The sateen gives off modern elegance, while the earthy-toned duvet is a calming shade that’s perfect for the bedroom. 
  • The Organic Cotton Sateen Pillowcases are great for sensitive skin and hair that frizzes easily.
  • The third-party testing and certification process that each piece goes through from source to finished product offers peace of mind, as someone who prioritizes safe and healthy products in my home. 

Cons:

  • Both the sheets and duvet set are costly, but can be justified based on the rigorous testing and certification process each product goes through.
  • While I wouldn’t label this as a con per se, there were some tiny thread color variations to be aware of — but it’s to be expected with an all-natural fabric!

I’ve always been quite particular about the bed sheets I sleep on. Though I always adored my bright and squishy poly-filled comforter growing up, the skin on my body has always been on the sensitive side. Now, I always make sure my bedding uses natural and breathable materials like cotton. (We are meant to spend 8 hours of the day on our beds, after all!) With all that being said, my recent move had me on the radar for a new bedding set. The chilly Toronto evenings prompted me to look for something that would keep me sufficiently warm, but I would also need something that kept my partner and I cool during hot and humid summers — making temperature regulation is super important. I took a deep dive into their bedding collections and I was impressed —  the finished bedding products including sheets, pillow covers, and duvet covers are all GOTS-certified, MADE SAFE® certified, and UL/GREENGUARD® certified. Some of the options even carry a certified vegan badge, which is always great to see. The organic fiber in Naturepedic’s products are also independently verified by the Organic Content Standard (OCS), which is one of their many trusted certifications that tracks and ensures that the product is certified organic from source, all the way to the finished product. No greenwashing here! (The brand even has a blog dedicated to how to avoid greenwashing.) After all my research, I can see why Naturepedic is so highly regarded in the mattress and bedding space as one of the top clean and sustainable brands!

I was excited to receive my Naturepedic order as I couldn’t wait to fit our mattress with top-notch, organic bedding. When delivery day came, everything arrived neatly and pristenly in a plain cardboard box with each bedding item wrapped in minimal packaging. I loved how each bedding piece was individually wrapped in a reusable garment bag made of the same shade and material of the bedding item itself. The organic cotton ties keeping each item in place added the perfect, functional touch. I’ll be repurposing these garment bags to hold my extra bed sheets. 

Organic Cotton Sateen Fitted Sheet (Queen, Arctic Snow) | $129

Upon unwrapping the Organic Cotton Sateen Fitted Sheet, I immediately noticed how smooth and soft it felt. The fabric is light and was very easy to unravel for placement on our mattress. I love that the Queen size of this fitted sheet is so generous — enough to accommodate a Euro top or a mattress topper. The elastic is also easy to stretch, but stays put where you place it, which made it easy for me to fit over our mattress without employing any extra help! 

Once I had the fitted sheet set, I could truly see where the sateen part came in — the fabric is ever so slightly sheen, especially when the sunlight hits it, giving it a luxurious and elegant vibe. The Arctic Snow shade is pure white — a classic for the bedroom. I can see the sateen fabric easily fitting in with any color or fabric of your choice should you like to mix and match your bedspread. I’m also happy to report that the fitted sheet stayed put over the week I slept on it, no readjustments needed!

Organic Cotton Sateen Flat Sheet (Full/Queen, Arctic Snow) | $129

The Organic Cotton Sateen Flat Sheet I received is a perfect match to the fitted sheet, and just as perfect. As an adult, I can now appreciate all the benefits a flat sheet can offer in terms of keeping our bedding fresher for longer, and this addition to our bedspread made all the difference. Layering underneath this airy layer night after night felt different than the experience i’ve had with other flat sheets — it wasn’t as crumpled up in the morning, stayed mostly in place every single night, and kept us the perfect temperature despite our thick and fluffy duvet (more on this in a bit).

It really felt indulgent as I wrapped myself in them, feeling so gentle, soft, and cool on the skin. While all the Organic Cotton Sateen sheets I received were wrinkly at first, they’ve released a lot of their wrinkles the more I slept on them. If you thought a flat sheet isn’t necessary, think again! I now use this on our bed every single night.

I love a good pillowcase, especially as someone who has curly hair that’s prone to frizzing. Though I normally sleep on a silk pillowcase, I found the Organic Cotton Sateen Pillowcase to be the perfect alternative. The naturally silky softness of the fabric has no ill effects on my hair, and the pillowcase feels gentle on my skin, no irritations in sight. For someone who’s looking for a vegan silk alternative while also prioritizing natural and organic materials, this pillowcase set is a no-brainer.

I’m no bed styling expert, but I can appreciate an aesthetic bedding setup. I was ecstatic unwrapping this gorgeous Organic Cotton Waffle Duvet Cover! The Harbor Island color is the most beautiful muted teal shade — the perfect gentle and relaxing earthy tone that’s calming to the eye. It adds just the right touch of vibrancy to our cream walls and grey flooring. The fabric also feels cushy and cool, yet thick and durable. It was so easy wrapping up my duvet with this cover. All-cotton ties are provided on each corner, ensuring the duvet stays in place. Just be sure to tie them tightly!

The waffle weave texture is so cozy and a sensory dream — I can see why it’s such a popular choice for bedding. It gives almost a light massage sensation as you run your hands over it, and feels even more relieving for your feet! Depending on the size and weight of your duvet insert (I use a goose down, cotton cover one), the whole set up almost feels like a weighted blanket over your body, thanks to the gentle pressure provided by the thick, textured fabric.

Even though the duvet cover is the heaviest one I’ve ever used, tell me how both my partner and I experienced the most temperature-regulated sleep we’ve had? It’s thanks to the breathable 100% organic cotton, of course! With the ups and downs in temperature in our area, I was skeptical thinking we’d be sweating under the duvet cover, but we were both immediately surprised. After getting cozy under the duvet, my body quickly adjusted to the correct temperature without me having to generate tons of heat by rubbing my feet together or resting my feet on my partner’s warm skin. 🤭 This addition to our bed is hands down my favorite bedding piece I’ve ever used!

This matching Organic Cotton Waffle Sham Set is the cutest! It brings the whole bedding set together, and feels just as textured and soft as the matching duvet cover. I did notice there were a couple of tiny spots of color variation in the fabric, but I believe it’s a natural occurrence in the thread. I can imagine using these shams as extra support under my legs while I sleep, or for some textured pressure relief for my legs. They are definitely a worthwhile addition to their matching duvet counterpart!
