I personally tested and researched the top bath linens made using organic and natural materials — these are my top ten favorites for a range of budgets.

What’s better than coming out of the shower feeling squeaky clean and wrapping yourself up in a warm bath towel? Few things feel as luxurious or relaxing — especially when you snuggle up in a towel made from organic and natural materials.

But do you know what your towels are made from? I’ve had my current towels for over a decade and the tags have long since faded or been cut off. My unmatching washcloths are just as old, and are in even worse shape—they’re hardly square anymore thanks to shrinking, and the edges are tattered and frayed.

The whole setup makes showering feel like a chore, even though it’s a crucial practice for maintaining my mental (and physical) health. So to find the very best of the best in 2024, I’ve reviewed organic and all-natural towels from our favorite brands to see which ones meet my standards for quality, sustainability, and affordability.

Below, you’ll find my top ten favorite towels and bath sheets, all made using natural and pesticide-free materials and produced in fair labor environments. There’s a wide range of pricing, but know this: you can’t go wrong with any of these bath linens. (For extra luxury, upgrade to a bath sheet — I’ve never tried one before now, and am absolutely smitten).

My old towels for reference!

For me, I’ll eventually retire my old towels and use them for cleaning or share them with my pets (maybe even donate to an animal shelter). But from here on out, I’m sold on plush towels for my self-care shower routine, especially since they’ll last me another ten years — or more.

My criteria:

Our editors have personally tested and researched clean prenatal vitamins to select the best organic, natural, and nontoxic formulations, with input from thousands of customer reviews. We update this list regularly with emerging favorites that meet the below criteria.

  • NATURAL AND ORGANIC MATERIALS | I look for certified organic cotton whenever possible, but also look to certifications like GOTS, OEKO TEX, Fair Trade, and B Corp status to further indicate a brand’s values.
  • RANGE OF PRICES | I specifically looked for organic and natural towels that ranged from budget-friendly to more luxurious, depending on your needs (psst — add nice towels to your wedding registry!)
  • STYLES AVAILABLE | Some days I want super plush bath linens, and others I want something quick-drying and easy to care for. These brands offer a range of sizes, textures, and absorbencies.

Don’t forget to top off your bathing experience with these organic body washes and organic shampoo brands. Scrub-a-dub. 🛁

Sustainability | Made in environmentally certified factories in India and Bahrain, ethical production practices
Standard Towel Price | $18–$22

If you’re looking for a beautiful towel for an affordable price, Under The Canopy is the way to go. I tested the blush plush organic towel, which looks nice and plush when folded and hanging; it’d be an excellent choice for a luxurious guest bathroom without spending so gosh darn much on towels. I didn’t find these towels to be the softest option on the list—but I do think they’ll get softer with time and washing. Spring for the bath sheets if you have the space!

You can save 10 percent more by bundling, making Under The Canopy the most affordable options on this list.

2. Avocado

1% for the planet
B corp
Climate neutral
FSC
GOTS certified
Greenguard certified
Made safe
Natural materials
OEKO-TEX® certified
Vegan

Materials | 100 percent GOTS Certified organic cotton
Sustainability | MADE SAFE® certified, Climate Neutral Certified
Standard Towel Price | $84

I wrapped myself in Avocado’s organic cotton bath sheets after a shower on a particularly cold day, and almost didn’t want to get dressed. It was that comfortable, and very, very large. The only reason these towels didn’t make my number one pick was the price. Avocado’s prices reflect the longevity, quality, and sustainability of the products, but spending triple digits on a bath sheet ($119 to be precise) may be difficult to justify for most folks. But, oh, the absolute delight it was to wrap myself in one of these luxuriously soft and warm bath sheets! Add these Avocado towels to a wedding registry or request as a gift, you won’t be disappointed.

3. Pact

Budget friendly
Climate neutral
Fair trade
GOTS certified
Natural materials

Materials | 100 percent GOTS Certified organic cotton
Sustainability | Recyclable packaging & offset emissions, Fair Trade Certified
Standard Towel Price | $33

Pact is a one-stop shop for bedding, clothing, and bath linens for the whole family. The towels are soft and sensory-friendly, making them a great pick for kiddos (Pact offers three different textures—classic luxe, spa rib, and airy waffle). And they’re super cute! The available colors remind me of a day at the beach picking up seaglass; I tried the mineral, a beautiful dusky grey-green.

All of Pact’s towels come in at least a set of two, but choose a bigger bundle for almost 10 percent off. Pro tip: a bath sheet in spa rib would be a good budget-friendly alternative to Avocado’s bath sheet, coming in at under $50 each.

4. Piglet in Bed

GOTS certified
Natural materials
OEKO-TEX® certified
Small business
Woman owned

Materials | 100% organic and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified cotton
Sustainability | Made in Portugal ethically sourced cotton in partnership with the Better Cotton Initiative
Standard Towel Price | $49

If ever I were to spend the whole day wrapped in nothing but a bath towel (dream day, anyone?), my first choice would be Piglet in Bed. These towels and washcloths are thick with a smooth, almost-satiny texture, and wash up like a dream (they’re still as soft as they were on day one). I especially love keeping these bath sheets on hand for houseguests — they upgrade my apartment bathroom to quite the luxurious, welcoming space, and the mushroom color I tested is easy to hide random makeup stains. Note that not all the towels are certified organic, although they are all made using sustainable, ethically sourced materials. (I’ve got my eye on the brand’s linen bed sheets next, just look at the gingham 😍).

5. Homebird

BIPOC Owned
Fair trade
Family owned
GOTS certified
Natural materials

Materials | 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton
Sustainability | Made in Fairtrade-certified factories, grown without pesticides, sustainable and transparent practices
Standard Towel Price | $58–$63

As a brand dedicated to both luxurious and sustainable materials, Homebird has been making a splash in the home linens space since 2021. I tested the classic bath sheet set in navy and white, which I’ve found to be a minimalist’s dream. Not only is the towel a perfect mid-weight so it dries quickly, but I also love the simple touch of the piped edges which elevates the whole look. The towels are made using “long-staple” organic cotton, which means they’ll be sturdier and softer in the long run — and I have to say, it’s a quality you can definitely feel. It’s also nice to see the Fairtrade logo on the tags for these towels, a good reminder about who makes the items we use daily (and in what labor conditions) matters.

You can save around 10 percent when you opt for the six-piece bundle!

6. Ettitude

B corp
Budget friendly
Climate neutral
FSC
Natural materials
OEKO-TEX® certified
Vegan
Woman owned

Materials | 100 percent bamboo Lyocell
Sustainability | Bamboo sourced from FSC-certified sustainable forests, hypoallergenic
Standard Towel Price | $52

Small space-dwellers, rejoice! Ettitude’s towels are lush and soft, but not bulky or thick making them the best choice for folks who need to be smart with their storage. While these towels are not technically “organic,” they are made from bamboo lyocell which is all natural and sensitive skin-friendly. (I could almost envision these towels being repurposed as comfort blankets for little ones, and the hand towel is the perfect weight for a kitchen hand towel, too.) I’ve got my eye on the hair towel for my long-haired husband who needs a gentle way to dry his thick hair.

You can even bundle your towel set with a bamboo bathrobe to save up to 20 percent!

7. Parachute

Climate neutral
GOTS certified
Natural materials
OEKO-TEX® certified

Materials | 100 percent GOTS Certified organic cotton
Sustainability | Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, climate neutral shipping
Standard Towel Price | $49

Wrapping myself in Parachute’s towels felt like a trip down memory lane. I was reminded of when I was a kid showering at my grandparents lake cottage after a long day of swimming. These mid-weight ribbed towels are made using only the finest long-staple natural Turkish cotton from the Aegean region, and feature a subtle ribbed texture. They’re the perfect balance between plushness and quick-drying! And how gorgeous are the mosaic towels?

You can order by piece, or save around 15 percent when you purchase an 18-piece bundle (which is great for wedding registries and housewarmings).

8. Coyuchi

1% for the planet
GOTS certified
Natural materials

Materials | 100 percent GOTS Certified organic cotton
Sustainability | Upcycling program through Coyuchi for Life
Standard Towel Price | $48–$78

I’ve had my eye on Coyuchi for a long time and am swooning over this stunning terra cotta organic towel—I never imagined I would love this color so much. This is a fabulous mid-weight ribbed towel that dries quickly without feeling too thin (or too overly fluffy). I am drawn to Coyuchi thanks to the range of styles and price points available—and its commitment to creating a circular lifecycle for your products which is great for heavy users. You can subscribe for your choice of bath towels at a low monthly rate, and receive new ones on a recurring basis. Coyuchi will then renew, upcycle, or recycle your gently used goods, as part of its commitment to sustainability.

You can select bundles of just towels, or select a variety of bathroom linens and save up to 10 percent.

9. Boll & Branch

Fair trade
GOTS certified
Natural materials

Materials | 100 percent GOTS Certified long-staple organic cotton
Sustainability | No pesticides used, water-saving processes
Standard Towel Price | $49

Boll & Branch’s towels feel like vacation. There, I said it. If thick and fluffy is the name of your towel game, these are the ones for you. I tried two styles, the spa and the plush towels, and can say this—the plush towel’s fine terry loops make it super-soft right out of the box. The plush would be my first choice, even though it’s slightly pricier! (Keep an eye out for sales to snag these babies for a deal). The stone color would look fab in a modern, minimalist home or apartment.

Boll & Branch’s bundles will save you around 5 percent, although I do really like that you can purchase most items a la carte (for when you have houseguests or if your family grows).

10. Bed Threads

Climate neutral
Natural materials
OEKO-TEX® certified

Materials | 100% French Flax linen, OEKO-TEX 100 Certified
Sustainability | Biodegradable materials, carbon neutral company
Standard Towel Price | $80

Bed Threads has long been on our editors’ list for stunning, quality bedding made from all natural materials, so I was super excited to test out the linen waffle woven towels. I experienced the towels in the turmeric shade, which is even more beautiful in person than it is in any pictures. These towels would be excellent for travelers or folks in smaller living spaces, thanks to the lightweight, fast-drying nature. (Don’t worry though, it’s still an absorbent towel for your post-shower routine!) I recommend air drying these linens, since the edges do get a little wrinkly in the dryer.

You can save up to 24% when you opt for a bath bundle, so definitely splurge for the set!
