Why Everyone Loves Mejuri Jewelry (2024 Editor Review)
Summary: After years of hearing friends and colleagues praise Mejuri for its blend of sustainability, quality, and design, I was excited to test some pieces for myself. I’m usually looking for durable, versatile, everyday pieces that don’t require too much attention, and overall the brand delivered! Though certain pieces may not suit everyone, I was impressed with everything I tried, and love that I can dress these pieces up or down, and even fall asleep comfortably still wearing almost everything!
Pros:
- I love that Mejuri is committed to eco-friendly practices, with 94% of jewelry made from recycled gold and the use of responsibly sourced diamonds and gemstones. The brand is also aiming to be climate-positive by 2030.
- The pieces I tested are made from premium materials like sterling silver and gold vermeil, while still being affordable, durable, and ideal for everyday wear. (I’m obsessed with the jewelry polishing cloths that Mejuri includes!)
- I found most of these pieces comfortable for all-day wear, even for sleep, such as the Dôme figure ring and Mini Heart Studs. Many designs are also sensitive-skin friendly, especially the gold pieces for new piercings!
Cons:
- Some items, like the Multi Gemstone Bracelet, have fine chains or intricate designs that might be less durable for daily wear — though, they all held up in my testing!
My jewelry journey has been a bit of a rollercoaster — from whatever statement pieces were on sale at Target or Forever 21, to absolute bare-bones minimalism, to more sustainable statement pieces, I find myself now at the balance between simple and “showing up”. That means I like to look intentional and put together, without too many loud tassels or pieces I can’t easily wear for days at a time.
Plus, I prefer jewelry that I can sleep in without worrying if my cat will knock it off my nightstand. 🙃
“I never experienced Mejuri in person until now — just in time for the holidays — and it’s won me over as a great transparent brand with affordable pricing.”
I’ve known about Mejuri now for over 5 years, and I’ve had many a friend and colleague praise the reasonable prices and the range of accessories they offer, from subtle to statement. But I never experienced Mejuri in person until now — just in time for the holidays — and it’s won me over as a great transparent brand with affordable pricing (and many great luxury giftables).
Mejuri was founded in 2013 by Noura Sakkijha, a third-generation jeweler with a background in industrial engineering and supply chain management, which I’m assuming has influenced how this direct-to-consumer brand streamlines its processes. But being an affordable DTC brand isn’t the only mission — Mejuri aims to create sustainable jewelry that has measurable, positive impacts on the places and people involved in its production. Right now, 94% of Mejuri’s jewelry is crafted from recycled gold, and the company also uses responsibly sourced and conflict-free diamonds (that have undergone the Kimberley Process), AAA-grade gemstones, and has ambitious goals to be climate-positive by 2030.
Sustainability is integral to Mejuri’s brand ethos, focusing on creating high-quality, ethically produced jewelry while minimizing environmental impact and supporting responsible practices throughout its supply chain. That’s all super exciting! But the real question here — is Mejuri jewelry as high-quality and well-designed as similar brands with higher price points or fewer sustainability standards?
“Sustainability is integral to Mejuri’s brand ethos, focusing on creating high-quality, ethically produced jewelry while minimizing environmental impact and supporting responsible practices throughout its supply chain.”
I’ve been wearing some of the brand’s bestsellers for the past month, and I am happy to say yes. Mejuri does make high-quality, timeless pieces at a range of price points, and I’m excited to keep wearing the brand for years to come. Overall, I feel like the prices are fair for the quality, design, and longevity you’ll get from each piece, and definitely recommend opting for the sterling silver or gold vermeil if you want to save a little, without sacrificing quality. Both the silver and gold vermeil sings in the sunlight, as long as you keep it polished. (Also, if you don’t want to pay everything up front, you can also pay in 4 interest-free installments through afterpay or Klarna).
Everything shipped quickly in tidy boxes and jewelry bags, which was helpful since some of the pieces, like the birthstone charm, are so tiny! The boxes also included jewelry polishing cloths which are 100% cotton treated with a cleaner and anti-tarnish agent. Don’t throw these out — they are so effective and make all my jewelry look brand new.
Also worth noting is the brand insignia; while the engraving is hidden away on rings and earrings, I do really enjoy the tiny “M” charm on the bracelets and necklaces. It’s a subtle, cute addition that I don’t always see with other brands.
For more detail on the pieces I tested, read on for my own opinions on wearability, durability, and style of each piece I wore. Let me know in the comments if you have a favorite piece from their collection! (Oh, and if you’re looking to gift Mejuri to a friend or loved one, I’ve noted which pieces are my favorite for that occasion as well.)
Mejuri rings
Dôme figure ring in sterling silver | $98
This ring was the first piece to be out of the box and on my body — it slips on so easily and is a joy to wear 24/7 (that’s right, this is a sleepable ring if you’re into that sort of thing). Crafted from 925 sterling silver, this ring features a bold, curved design all the way around, ideal for statement wear. Plus, it’s stackable with many of the other figure rings in the collection. It’s solid, easy to polish with the accompanying polishing cloth, and I’m excited to try stacking it with some other rings in my collection. I ordered a size 6 and found it true to size; I might end up getting some of the enamel ones to stack with it.
Dôme Ring | $68
When I think Mejuri, this is the first ring that comes to mind — it’s one of the brand’s classic designs that balances minimalism and statement gracefully. I ordered a size 6 in the gold vermeil, which is a thick layer of 18k solid gold on sterling silver, which means the piece will last longer. Honestly, this ring is as eye-catching in real life as it is online. I will note that this one isn’t as easy to wear as the figure ring because it has a hollow center, and moisture can get caught or your finger can swell and contract causing there to be a bit of an indentation that lingers. I had a little aggravation on my ring finger after wearing it for several days in a row. It also sits a bit high on my finger, so as a scuff-prone person I did knock it a few times. (If you sew or do other intricate things with your hands, you’ll likely want to take this one off for those tasks since it has a higher profile.) But, like the figure ring, this piece polishes up easily — after using the Mejuri polishing cloth, I could see my reflection quite nicely in the shine. 😍
Mejuri earrings
Stevie hoops in gold and silver | $198
One of Mejuri’s latest and greatest designs, these Stevie hoops sell out fast. I tested the gold vermeil and silver, and am delighted by the versatility of these earrings! The sterling silver hoops are easy to slip off if you want to just keep it more simple with the gold hoop, but when they’re paired together you get a stunning statement piece that goes with everything. These hoops are solid but still lightweight, and feel very secure on my ears. I love the little click-clack they make when I shake my head, emphasizing my “no” in the most confident of ways. One thing I will note — these are very loved by my cat, so I have to be extra careful when I take them off at night, or when I remove the interchangeable hoops. She might just knock one into the depths under my bed, where it’ll take me ages to find.
Chunky huggie hoops in gold | $98
I’m wearing these huggies as I type; I’ve had them in for three days straight and haven’t even removed them to sleep. The chunky gold hoop is another Mejuri signature style, and I’m really pleased that I decided to go with the huggies since they fit juuuust right around my earlobe (if you have longer lobes or a higher-placed piercing, you might find them too tight, but I haven’t had any issues). Another piece made with gold vermeil, making them an affordable luxury at $98, I think these would make a great gift. These earrings feel super secure, and clasp with a satisfying click — one thing to get used to is that the post is curved, which can sometimes require a little bit of extra finangling to get them through my piercings. I did try stacking them with the Stevie hoops, which didn’t suit my style, but my ear still held up to wearing both pairs at once!
Mini Heart Studs | $98
I have to say it — these studs are some serious cutie patooties. I added a third lobe piercing earlier this year, and knew immediately that these would be my first earrings to swap in from the original stainless steel ones I got from the piercing studio. Since they’re crafted from solid gold, they’re a great fit for new-ish piercings or sensitive skin, and are so simple to “set and forget” for everyday (and night) wear. I was a little hesitant about the butterfly back with the open post, worrying it might be uncomfortable when I’m cozying up for sleep, but have found these to be as comfy as the original earrings I got pierced with. Mejuri always knocks it out of the park with their layering pieces, and these little hearts are no exception.
Cartilage Pavé diamond mini hoop | $178
I’ve had my cartilage piercing for over fifteen years now, and try to avoid changing hoops too often. I’ve been burned before by rings that are too large, too thick, or made from materials my ear just doesn’t like; anyone else hate that dull ache you get from the wrong earring? So color me impressed when I actually loved this piece from the very beginning. It’s a similar style to a $13 Amazon find I have had for the past five years, but the weight, shine, and quality of Mejuri’s piece are very evident when I compared the two. (See the picture — Mejuri’s is much less tarnished and is going to hold up much better in the long run). I love the pavé set diamonds, which offer an understated elegance, and the fact that this is 14k gold makes it extra nice for my sensitive ears. There is never any irritation from the diamonds if the earring spins in the piercing, too!
Duet Mixed Ear Cuff | $48
Now that I have three lobe piercings and a cartilage piercing, I’m ready to go maximalist with my ear styling; and cuffs are super handy when I don’t feel like getting more piercings…just yet. This two-tone cuff is sturdy and eye-catching, plus it’s easy to slip on. While I don’t recommend sleeping in this one (it gets a little uncomfortable after long wear, or if you’re laying on it — not to mention how it may fall off), it’s perfect for special occasions when you want to add some extra oomph to your look. The cuff is a bit big for my ear, so I do have to move it around until I feel it’s secure enough for me to wear out of the house and not lose by accident.
Mejuri bracelets
Boyfriend bold bracelet in gold | $178
To be honest, I’ve never been comfortable wearing bracelets. Watches and scrunchies — aka less breakable things — are more my pace. But in the spirit of trying new things (and after so many years of fawning over delicate gold bracelets) I decided to test out a couple of pieces from Mejuri. The 14k gold Boyfriend Bracelet is a lovely balance between statement and minimalist, like most Mejuri pieces, and I haven’t taken it off in over two weeks. No snags or breakages yet, knock on wood! Admittedly I should take more care to remove it when I sleep or shower, but that’s where I often run into trouble losing my jewelry. I ordered a size XS – M which fits me perfectly, and I like that you can fasten the bracelet on any chain, in case I need to size it down a bit.
Multi Gemstone Bracelet | $268
As a February baby, I’ve fallen in and out of love with my amethyst birthstone my whole life. These days, I’m decidedly a fan, and wearing anything amethyst feels special and grounding to me. Mejuri’s multi-gemstone bracelet features an amethyst stone and five delicate diamonds set in gold, spaced asymmetrically throughout the chain. (For some reason, it makes me think of a constellation!) Each diamond appears to be a slightly unique size, averaging around .085 carats per diamond. The amethyst stone isn’t as vibrant as it appears online, but it still pops out from the rest of the bracelet to give it some additional intrigue. There’s also three chain length options on each size (I opted again for the XS – M), making it easy to wear for anyone. Truthfully, I’m more hesitant to wear this piece on a daily basis because the chain is so fine, but I’ve paired it with the boyfriend bracelet on a few occasions and it makes me feel so elegant. This bracelet would be a fantastic gift!
Mejuri necklaces
Boyfriend bold necklace | $298
I LOVE this piece. It’s not super bold, but it still stands out against my skin or a shirt in ways that make an outfit feel polished and complete. Pair it with the matching bracelet and it is *chef’s kiss*. I opted for the 18” length instead of the 22”, and I find it sits nicely with medium-v necks and on top of crew necks. Since it’s made from 14k gold, I feel good about wearing it every day and it seems quite sturdy (I have also slept in this one, even though I really don’t prefer sleeping with necklaces on. For the sake of testing, it passed with flying colors!) I added an amethyst birthstone charm ($98) to this piece, which is easy to slip on and off to vary the look. Unlike the gemstone bracelet, this amethyst is quite vibrant and gives the necklace a mini-lariat-like look that goes well with v-necks or even over a turtleneck. I want to add more charms!
Zodiac pendant necklace | $98
If you’re looking for the perfect gift, honestly, this is it. Mejuri’s Zodiac pendant necklace is delicate and keepsake-worthy, featuring a star sign dotted in white sapphire, and the name of your sign engraved on the back. The chain is quite dainty, so I might not recommend it for folks who have grabby children (it is shiny, after all!) but otherwise it’s a minimalist’s dream. Fun fact: This is the first time I’ve ordered a Pisces piece for myself; I thought I was an Aquarius all these years until I got my birth chart done — apparently I’m so cusp that I slipped into Pisces season! And as a fidgeter, I do like spinning the little disc and feeling the stones. The sterling silver version comes in at under $100, making it a great deal for something that will last forever.
