Why I Chose a Revival Wool Rug For Our Home (60 Day Review)
Summary: Iโve got a soft spot for rugs with character, but with a baby on the way, I needed something beautiful and safe for our home โ enter Revival. Their Halo Flatweave wool rug checked all the boxes: Sustainably made, zero off-gassing, pet-friendly, and sturdy enough for everyday life. After 60 days of living with it, Iโm seriously impressed by how well itโs holding up (and how much cozier our space feels).
What I love:
- Sustainable & eco-friendly: Arrives in plastic-free packaging, made with natural wool and low-impact dyes โ perfect for toxin-conscious homes.
Durable design: The rug is beautiful, easy to clean, and handles foot traffic and pet hair without showing wear. - Affordable & accessible: High-quality rugs at great price points, with free shipping and easy returns.
Things to keep in mind:
- Not the most nontoxic: While low-VOC, these rugs arenโt the absolute most nontoxic option on the market.
- Not vintage or one-of-a-kind: While handcrafted, these rugs are not going to be as special or unique as if you were to find something vintage or one-of-a-kind during your travels.
If you’re new here, I have a bit of a rug problem. Okay โ maybe more than a bit. Iโve spent countless hours combing flea markets, vintage stores, and the quieter corners of the internet searching for rugs with soul. Iโm drawn to rugs that feel storied โ well-worn pieces that make a space feel instantly lived in.

Rugs are one of those grounding elements in a home. Theyโre the first thing your feet touch in the morning, and the soft backdrop to so many of lifeโs everyday moments. When my husband and I traveled to Turkey and Morocco last year, I spent way too much time (and money) in rug shops. I even have a few hanging on our walls as art.
That said, this season of life looks a little different. With a baby on the way and a recent move into a new house, I’ve found myself craving something neutral, cozier, andโmost importantly โ safe and made with natural materials for our main living space.
Iโve wanted a rug that is beautiful and breathable and something that will hold up to everyday chaos while being safe for tiny hands and feet (and our pup’s paws!). Iโd been seeing Revival ads on Instagram for a while โ their washable styles and sustainably made collections are what first caught my eye. So when they offered to send a rug for real-life testing, I jumped at the chance to try the Halo Flatweave Wool Rug in Marine in 9×12 size to anchor our living room. Here are my thoughts on the brand, the rug, and how itโs held up in our home.
About Revival
Revival is one of those brands thatโs hard to scroll past. Their designs are undeniably beautiful โ clean, considered, and bold enough to feel special without overwhelming a space. But what really drew me in was their sourcing model. Founded in 2017, Revival was created to make high-quality, artisan-crafted rugs more accessible by cutting out the traditional retail middlemen. The brand partners directly with skilled artisans in rug-making hubs like India, Turkey, and Morocco to create small-batch pieces that honor age-old techniques while embracing modern design.

Their in-house team works closely with weavers to develop collections that feel both timeless and fresh, designs that bring warmth and character without sacrificing function. Just as important: Revival is deeply committed to sustainability and safety. They use natural materials like wool, jute, cotton, and hemp, alongside nontoxic dyes and low-VOC finishesโan especially welcome detail for parents and pet owners (hi, it’s me!).
They also offer washable collections and have launched a rug recycling program, making it easier to shop more sustainably from start to finish. Revivalโs transparency and intention truly set them apart in an often opaque category.
As for the rug I chose, I went with the Halo Flatweave in the 9×12 size, which retails for $899. Itโs handwoven from a blend of hand-carded New Zealand and European wool on a sturdy cotton foundation, finished with a delicate 3″ hand-knotted fringe. The muted blue-grey tones shift beautifully throughout the dayโsometimes leaning cool, sometimes warmโwhich makes it feel right at home in our little bungalow backhouse by the beach. It also ships free with easy returns. While Revival recommends pairing it with a rug pad for extra cushioning, weโve found it plenty comfortable on its own for our space.
Rolling out the rug
When the rug arrived, it came in a sturdy cardboard box with zero plastic in sight โ a small but meaningful detail that immediately signaled Revivalโs commitment to sustainability. Inside, the rug was neatly folded and heavier than I anticipated, which I took as a good sign. This wasnโt a flimsy, mass-produced piece; it had substance, weight, and care behind it. As we unrolled it, I was bracing myself for that all-too-familiar chemical odor that often comes with new rugs โ but there was none. Truly zero off-gassing. The texture felt clean, sturdy, and fresh from the start, like something that had been made thoughtfully, not rushed through a factory.

Getting the 9×12 in place was definitely a two-person job. My husband helped me maneuver it under the couch and coffee table, and we were both impressed by how effortlessly it laid flat, with almost no curling at the corners. No wrestling, no weighted books neededโjust instant ease. And instantly, the space felt more grounded and complete. Isnโt it amazing how a really good rug can do that?!
My thoughts after living with Revival for 60 days
Now that weโve lived with our Revival rug for a couple of months, I can confidently say: Iโm officially a fan. The rug is everything I hoped for โ beautiful, durable, and refreshingly low-maintenance. While it doesnโt come with the vintage patina or storied past like some of the other rugs in our home, it feels just right for this new season of life.

The tightly woven wool fibers donโt trap dog hair the way high-pile rugs do, and my vacuum glides over it effortlessly. Spot cleaning has been easy, and I havenโt noticed any snags or pulls thanks to the flatweave construction.
Despite regular foot traffic (and the occasional takeout spill), it still looks as good as the day we unrolled it. While itโs not the plushest rug out there, itโs soft enough for lounging, and I can already picture lying out blankets for tummy time with my daughter in the months ahead.
If youโre curious about Revivalโs collection, I definitely recommend taking a look. They offer everything from washable rugs and OEKO-TEX certified options to outdoor styles and vintage one-of-a-kinds. With accessible pricing, free shipping, and a generous return policy, Revival makes it easy to bring home a rug youโll love โ and one thatโll actually last.
