Our editors researched the best brands making Montessori tables and chairs. These are our favorite sets that are safely and sustainably made for toddlers.
Looking for a tiny table and chair set for your playroom? We love these Montessori sets designed specifically for social hour, tea parties, and reading. The Montessori Method is a child-centered approach to learning. This method emphasizes hands-on, sensory experiences and play. Montessori toys are also made of natural materials like wood or wool to help your child connect with nature.
What are the benefits of a Montessori table and chairs?
Since many Montessori toys are task-oriented, they help to teach kids fine motor skills and problem-solving. These toys are typically simpler and more realistic than typical toys, so kids can better learn about the real world around them.
A Montessori-inspired table and chair set gives your child a dedicated space to sit and play without distraction. It can help them stay organized and focused on what they are playing with in the moment. These tables and chairs are also wonderful for homework, coloring, reading, and social hours with friends. We love the idea of our little ones having a space that’s specifically for them and sized for their smaller bodies.
Most importantly, though, Montessori tables are safe and sustainable. They are generally made from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified wood without harmful chemicals like VOCs. Many are handmade or made in small batches. These tend to be more durable and can withstand years or even generations of play (we love an heirloom!).
Our criteria:
Our editors have filled our homes with safe, sustainable furniture for over a decade. Weโve rounded up our favorite Montessori table and chair sets, sustainable, eco-friendly, and built to last. We regularly add new options to this list when they meet the following criteria.
- SUSTAINABLE | We love to feature brands with solid third-party certifications to support their sustainability claims. - NATURAL & RECYCLED MATERIALS | Each table and chair set is made from real, natural wood or other safe, sustainable materials.
- AFFORDABLE | Furniture can be a considerable investment, so weโve included a range of price points โso some options are easier on the wallet. When possible, we also recommend shopping secondhand.
