What I Love

  • Some brands aren’t on Shop: If a brand isn’t on Shop, you won’t reap the benefits of a one-stop shop.

So, what is Shop?

I’ve been using the Shop platform for years; in fact, I journeyed back in my shopping history and found that I made my first purchase with Shop in 2023 when I ordered a few dry brushes from Primally Pure. I loved it from the start.

If you’re not familiar, here’s the scoop: Shop is a customer-facing marketplace that gathers all of your favorite brands, purchases, payment info, and shipping addresses in one place. There is no cost for you, the customer, to use it. You’ve most likely used it to check out from online stores. It simply connects to your email or phone number and saves all of your information so that you don’t have to enter your credit card or shipping information with each new purchase. This is why I immediately loved Shop — it made checking out incredibly quick and simple. 

What I didn’t realize back in 2023 is that there is an app connected to the Shop platform. I had been using my Shop account through my desktop computer for years, but I hadn’t downloaded the Shop app on my phone. So, at the start of September, I downloaded the app and tested out the user experience of shopping for all my favorite sustainable products!

How to use the Shop app

When I downloaded the app, I immediately realized that I had been missing out on a helpful feature: My Needed Prenatal Supplement subscription was automatically tracking within the app! It showed when it would renew and the next shipment date. I had no idea the app was monitoring the subscription for me.

I also had been missing out on the “Collections” feature. I found nearly all of my favorite brands on the app (with a few exceptions, like Quince) and used the tool to curate thoughtful shopping lists of all the products I purchase on repeat through the year. Most of the brands I shop from are small businesses, and I love that Shop is a major platform for the little guys who are creating products with intention and sustainability in mind.

My Beauty & Supplement Essentials

  • Osea Skincare: I love their seaweed-forward ingredients and deeply nourishing face products. I live in the desert, so a skincare routine inspired by the sea feels so renewing to me. 
  • Wonder Valley Hair Care and Oil: My absolute favorite hair care and body oil! Their products are made with sustainably sourced olive oil– a superfood ingredient for the body– and their scents are earthy and woodsy (the best). 
  • Needed Vitamins: The cleanest vitamin and supplement ingredients on the market. I’ve been taking their prenatals for years!  
  • Ritual Daily Shake: A delicious and nutritious daily protein shake that keeps my energy high.

My Home & Cooking Essentials

  • Avocado Down Pillows: Made with ethically sourced duck down. I love a super plush pillow– these are the only way for me! 
  • Hommey Bath Towels: 100% cotton and the prettiest designs! I have a combination of the Sandstone, Horizon, and Spice colorways. 
  • DedCool Laundry Detergent: 100% biodegradable plant-based laundry detergent with a sexy scent! Best laundry scent on the market IMO. 
  • Blueland Dish Detergent: These are my go-to plastic-free dish detergent tablets! I first discovered them at Costco, but the online Subscribe & Save is an absolute deal! 
  • Masienda Corn Flour: I just recently discovered this brand’s gluten-free and non-GMO corn flour when a friend made me blue corn flour pancakes! They were so delicious that now their flour is a staple in my pantry.  
  • Graza Olive Oil: My go-to olive oil for cooking and drizzling. 
  • Flamingo Estate Candles & Soap: The heirloom tomato candle and the rosemary soap are so luxurious. I love having these around as a special treat in our home! 

My Wardrobe Essentials

  • Arq Bra & Undies: Bra and undies made from organic cotton. The colorways are so fun and the comfort level is unmatched. 
  • Buck Mason Tanks: These are staples in my wardrobe! I love all of Buck Mason’s clothing, but their tanks and tees are among my favorites for their durability and elevated style.

After I curated my collections, I placed several orders (all on the same day) to test the user experience from start to finish. It was super seamless! Based on my experience, here’s how I recommend utilizing the Shop app: 

Create your collections: I broke down my collections into three categories: Beauty & Supplement, Home & Cooking, and Wardrobe. I had so much fun going through all the items in my home that I order on repeat and adding them to organized collections. Now I can easily return to these collections to reorder and remind myself of the core products that make up my life. Specifically, I love having a “wardrobe” collection to remind me of the brands that I can count on to fit my style and body.

Add your key details: Enter your favorite credit card(s) and shipping address(es) to your account. You only have to do this once, and you won’t need to do it again unless your information changes! For all retailers that utilize Shop, you simply check out with your login email, and your payment and shipping details are automatically filled in. For this review, I placed 12 orders in a matter of minutes. Checkout is insanely easy! 

Place orders easily within the app… or not! You don’t have to use the app to reap the benefits of Shop. Many retailers have Shop built into their purchase process, so when you check out from a store, you don’t have to go through the app, but your purchase will still pop up in the app for tracking purposes. 

Track your subscriptions: If you have a subscription to a product, Shop will automatically track it. Just go to the “Subscriptions” section of your account and check on when a subscription will renew and make edits to it, as needed! 

Track shipping: I love that I can see all of my orders at once in the app — no sifting through various email confirmations to find tracking numbers that lead to different sites. It’s all in one place on the Shop app!

Browse new products: Once you’ve curated your collections, Shop will send you recommendations for other products based on your preferences. This is a fun feature if you’re looking to discover new products that are in line with your values! ✨

Whenever I head to checkout from an online store, I hope that the retailer uses Shop — it just makes the purchase process so much easier! Now that I have the app, I’ll be taking full advantage of all its benefits, and I’ll definitely use it to find gifts for my loved ones for the upcoming holiday season!
